Re-enactment of 1790 British trader Hugh Heward journey across
    Michigan's Lower Peninsula to Chicago

Follows original route of the Heward party from Detroit to Chicago including an 8 mile overland portage from the Huron River watershed to the Grand River watershed

Includes up river travel, big open water on Lake Michigan and Lake Erie, many difficult portages & adverse springtime weather

The route crosses the Continental Divide a total of 30 times

Starts in Banff National Park in the southern Canadian Rockies Passes through the mountains of Montana and Idaho, meanders down through the Tetons into the barren high desert lands of Wyoming, ascends up & over several 10,000 to 12,000’ passes in Colorado, & switchbacks through rugged mountainous sections of New Mexico before finally dropping into the Chihuahuan Desert
